Giant Cupcake Decorating Ideas, Cup Cake Pan Pictures
Giant cupcakes made with a cupcake mold or tin are a blast to decorate and always a party favorite! However, the first time you turn a giant cupcake out of the pan, it might seem a bit daunting. Here are a few ideas for making a specially decorated giant cupcake.
Most importantly, when it comes to decorating, remember to KEEP IT SIMPLE. A giant cupcake is such a novel and fun way to celebrate, simply some seasonal or occasion-specific colors and a few key accents will make beautiful decorations.
Starting at the bottom of the giant cupcake, one option is to select a color of frosting that looks like a cupcake wrapper. We like white, pale yellow, or pale green. In this photo, the decorator has put a smooth layer of frosting spread smooth around the bottom with a knife. On top of that icing layer are vertical lines in the same color, made with a thin pastry tip.
One thing we like about the cupcake below is that it has a simple color palette carried throughout. The ring of frosting balls around the base of the cupcake is very sweet, and can also help to cover any little screwups you may have made. This cup cake has a much smoother overall texture to the frosting, compared to the previous one, and was obviously done by a professional. We think either way is a great look. Don’t feel as though you need to create a flawless or perfectly smooth finish. A handmade quality is part of what makes cake decorating so much fun.
Another option for your giant cupcake is to leave the base unfrosted. (I wouldn’t, as I prefer maximum frosting, but others might, and I think it looks quite nice here below). In this arrangement, the giant cupcake is frosted in a manner similar to the surrounding cupcakes which makes for a coherent overall composition. Some of the decorations (silver balls) that show in the central cake, are also on the smaller cupcakes. However the centerpiece has some additional, eye catching blue. Again, a small color palette with some repeated motifs makes this a pretty arrangement and not so daunting for the beginner-intermediate baker who can use a basic pastry bag.
This pastel and neutral look is lovely for a baby or bridal shower. A simple base, with knife applied frosting on top, accented by a zig zag around the middle (which again, helps to hide flaws, sort of like a belt…). The top is simply decorated with pastel candies. Lovely!
For serving the cupcake, one option is to place the giant cupcake at the top of a cupcake tree with “normal” sized cupcakes on the shelves below. Look how simply the cupcakes are decorated, and what a pretty display it is!
Here’s an attractive dessert buffet with the giant cupcake as the centerpiece.
We’ve also seen a giant cupcake set on top of a traditional cake. While this seems a bit precarious, it can be successful in the right hands.
We hope you enjoy decorating your giant cupcakes as much as we do!
